Ingredients:


 

  • Beef Patty 1.5 pounds / 24 Ounces
  •  

  • Sharp Cheddar - 4 Slices
  •  

  • Smoked Gouda - 4 Slices
  •  

  • Caramelized Onion - 0.664 Onions
  •  

  • Crispy Onion Strings 0.75 pounds / 12 Ounces
  •  

  • Red Onion Marmalade 0.25 pounds / 4 Ounces
  •  

  • Pretzel Bun - 4 Buns
  •  

Preparation:

  3. Follow the recipe here for crispy onion strings: Crispy Onion Strings

  5. Purchase store-bought red onion marmalade or reference the recipe here: Red Onion Marmalade
  6.  

  7. Divide the meat into 6 ounce portions. Form each portion loosely into a 3/4-inch-thick patty and make a depression in the center with your thumb. Season both sides of each burger with salt and pepper.

    Tips:
    • Take care not to over work the meat
    • Allowing the meat to warm up to near room temperature will provide a better sear that will lock in flavor

Cooking Directions:


 

  1. Place beef patties on the grill or pan at medium-high heat and cook for 3-5 minutes.
    • 3 Minutes = Medium-Rare
    • 3.5 Minutes = Medium
    • 4 Minutes = Medium-Well
    • 4.5 Minutes = Well

    Flip the burgers and continue cooking for 3-5 minutes until desired doneness:
    • 3 Minutes = Medium-Rare
    • 3.5 Minutes = Medium
    • 4 Minutes = Medium-Well
    • 4.5 Minutes = Well

  3. Place cheese on top of meat during the final minute of cooking

  7. Lightly toast the bun during the last minute of cooking on a separate pan at low-medium heat (if desired).

Assembly Instructions:


 

  1. Place beef patty on top of bottom bun

     

  2. Place the Sharp Cheddar on top of the meat (if not already done)

     

  3. Place the Smoked Gouda on top of the meat (if not already done)

     

  4. Top the burger with Red Onion Marmalade

     

  5. Top the burger with Caramelized Onion

     

  6. Top the burger with Crispy Onion Strings

     

  7. Place the top half of the bun to complete the burger.
