Description: Scion is a unique Washington DC Restaurant that produces gourmet takes on some well-known classics. The menu is an interesting array of culinary execution. It’s the kind of place where you can bring a date for dinner and drinks and grab yourself a gourmet burger.

The Scion burger features Wagyu and Sirloin cuts, smoked mozzarella, sautéed onions, fried pickles, and peach ketchup. A flavorful cut of beef with a slight char is the beginning of a great burger. This burger is a bit like comfort food to me. Toasted, melted, smoky, and hearty came to mind while I was enjoying it. The burger had a bit of a crunch (but in a good way – almost like a grilled cheese) unlike your typical burger. Fried pickles, charred beef, and a toasted bun gave this burger a very unique texture. My suggestions for this burger would be that the ketchup could pack a bit more sweetness/tang to really complement the other flavors, and my beef could have been a little more juicy.

Overall, this burger is a fantastic combination of flavors and one of the better combinations I’ve seen put together (I wish I saw these ingredients paired together more often). Scion is definitely amongst the burger elite in the Washington DC area. Their top notch beer and wine list, along with the great side of fries that came with my burger, also added to my experience.
